Painting: Spectral Silence
December, 1998: oil on canvas; 24" x 30"

This is the kind of thing you would expect from a twilight person.Ê Imagine hanging around a European monestary.Ê Something Gothic and ancient.Ê Imagine going down into the cryptÊ in the dark silence of evening.Ê Imagine seeing that dim light in the shadows...

I can't help it.Ê I think this piece is really cool!Ê I've always wanted to paint a ghost, and I finally had the chance to do it.Ê The best part was playing with two light sources: the ghost's green glow, and the warm incandescent bulb in the stairway. Ê The effect I finally got was exactly what I wanted.Ê One minor note: I've never been to Europe, and I've never been in the crypt of a monestary.Ê One other minor note: I've never seen a ghost.Ê Really.Ê I haven't.
